This summer, I worked with the co-founders of Brave Initiatives to think through how we could best teach high school girls to design solutions for complex social problems using technology. After coaching a Brave Camp team this July, I was asked to return for a 9-hour follow up workshop on design-thinking and social innovation this fall. This workshop gave me the chance to come up with a top-to-bottom design-thinking curriculum where we would go through the entire process in a single work day! This included:
- Scoping 3 social innovation projects
- Outlining how the girls would conduct user research/synthesize their data
- Communicating complex design concepts in simple, concise ways
- Empowering the girls by providing them with the skills they need to create real social impact!
